Myranda S. Marsh, Ed.D., Principal/Executive Director
Dr. Marsh was a classroom teacher for 11 years before becoming a charter school administrator. She served as Dean of
Secondary Studies for the celebrated Accelerated School in South
Central Los Angeles and Principal
of the Harvard campus of the Camino Nuevo Charter Middle School. She
earned her doctorate in Leadership in Urban Education from USC in the summer
of 2005, with a focus on the correlation between
effective teaching and test scores in urban middle schools. Dr. Marsh is a published author
in the field of education (ASCD Yearbook 1999 and Journal of Change in
Education) and has been an Adjunct Instructor in the field of Educational
Psychology at Loyola Marymount Graduate School of Education and in the
teacher education program at USC. |

Kimberly Bowlin, M.A. Ed., Director of Operations
Kim Bowlin received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and a Master's degree in Education from California State
University, Northridge. She spent her sophmore and junior years abroad studying at the university in Seville, Spain. She is a former English as a
Second Language (ESL) teacher and has taught both in the United States and Estonia. Additionally, she also has been an administrator at several
non-profit organizations. This will be her fourth year at James Jordan Middle School. |

Irene Nunez, Student Services Coordinator
Mrs. Nunez has previously served on the staff of Camino Nuevo Charter Academy. She is responsible for enrollment, attendance, student support services
and reception. |

Kathleen Frasca, Operations Assistant
A one-time LAUSD employee, Mrs. Frasca also has served as a personal executive assistant. She is responsible for supporting the director of operations and
providing a variety of student support services. |

Joel Blassio, 6th Grade English/History Instructor
Mr. Joel Blassio received his bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Multiple Subject teaching credential from California State Dominguez Hills with
honors (Magna Cum Laude). Mr. Blassio is looking forward to sharing his love of literature and social studies with students as a new 6th grade
English/History instructor. 2008-9 will be his third year as an English teacher, but his first with JJMS.

Teryn Bryant, M.A. Ed., 8th Grade English/History Instructor
Mrs. Bryant received her bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State San Bernardino. She later earned a Master's Degree in Theater from Cal
State Los Angeles. She completed her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from National University along with a Master's Degree in Education with an
emphasis in Cross Cultural Teaching. Mrs. Bryant is excited about her teaching eight grade humanities at JJMS! She looks forward to exposing the
students to the arts! |

Blaine Gorelik, M.A. Ed., 6th & 7th Grade Science Instructor
Mrs. Gorelik received her Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Northridge and her multiple subject teaching credential and
Master's degree from National Louis University in Chicago and has completed 60 post graduate hours at Rockford University in Illinois. She has
previously taught Math and Science as well as Home Economics and is very excited to be sharing her skills in sewing and culinary arts during Advisory.
This is her first year teaching and learning at JJMS. |

Shannen Kim, 6th Grade Math/Science Instructor
Ms. Kim received her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and also completed her Multiple Subject teaching credential at California State University,
Los Angeles. Ms. Kim is looking forward to working with the Spirit Team during Advisory. 2008-9 will be her second year with JJMS.

Margaret Malone, M.A. Ed., Lead Teacher (Special Education)
Ms. Malone received her bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Pennsylvania. During her junior year, she studied abroad at the University
of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. After graduation, she spent a semester at the University of Granada in Spain where she studied History and Spanish.
She completed her Multiple Subject teaching credential and Master’s degree in Education from Pepperdine University. She is currently completing her
Special Education credential at California State University Northridge. Ms. Malone is excited about sharing her love of reading and travel with her
students and will be starting a school library this year. This will be her third year with JJMS. |

Megan Rubio, 6th Grade English/History Instructor
Mrs. Rubio received her Bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development, with a specialty in education, from California State University,
Northridge. She completed her Multiple Subject teaching credential at California State University, Los Angeles. She previously taught in Pasadena
Unified and Glendale unified. Mrs. Rubio is looking forward to sharing her love of art and the great Masters during Advisory. This will be her first
year with JJMS. |

Candice Ryu, M.A. Ed., 6th Grade Math/Science Instructor
Ms. Ryu earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Dance from the University of Washington with distinction, cum laude. After
finishing college, she joined Teach for America, which brought her to Los Angeles to teach in Carson, CA for two years. There she taught sixth grade
Math, Science, English, and History. During this time, she also received her Multiple Subject teaching credential and a Masters in Education from
Loyola Marymount University. Ms. Ryu looks forward to sharing her love of dance and movement during Advisory with JJMS scholars. This will be her
first year at James Jordan Middle School. |

Ms. Woo earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. She then went on to receive her Multiple Subject
teaching credential and Master's degree in Teaching from the University of California, Irvine. She is excited about joining the JJMS family this year.

Lisa Tran, Physical Education Instructor
Coach Tran received two Bachelor of Arts degrees from California State University, Northridge in Psychology and Child Development. Her senior year,
she interned and worked part time at JJMS. She is currently working on her multiple subject credentials at California State University, Los Angeles
to become a history teacher. Coach Tran is excited about helping students understand how participation in athletic team sports can become a great
motivation for success in education. This will be her third year at James Jordan Middle School. |

Dave Hogan, Director of Technology
Mr. Hogan worked in the entertainment industry for 15 years, during which time he shifted his skills from production to information technology. After
leaving the film industry, he provided technology consulting services to a diverse clientele, including individuals, universities, and a national
charity that benefits the homeless. He holds certifications from Microsoft Corporation as well as The Computing Technology Industry Association.
Having been with JJMS since its inception, he provides computer, audio-visual, communications, and website support as a volunteer while working
fulltime as technology director for a non-profit organization based in Beverly Hills. |

Mignon Veasley-Fields, President
Mignon M. Veasley-Fields is President and CEO of The Firm's Source, a business
research and information consulting company. Prior to creating her own company,
she the managed the research and information departments of Price WaterhouseCooper LLP
and later McKinsey & Co. After retiring from corporate life, Mrs. Veasley-Fields
realized a great passion for the field of education, and because of the years of
involvement in educating her grandchildren who attend charter schools, she decided
to become more active in charter schools. She was instrumental in organizing the
first Site Based Council of a Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, a middle school located
in Los Angeles and she held the position of President of PTA at private elementary
school in Los Angeles. Mrs. Veasley-Fields has organized and managed several successful
school fundraising campaigns and is currently co-authoring grants for James Jordan Middle School.
Mrs. Veasley-Fields received a Bachelor or Music in Voice and English from Mount Saint
Mary's College in Brentwood, CA. She has served on the Boards of Directors for
The Los Angeles Public Library Foundation, The Special Libraries Association, and
BEST Friends, a fundraising group of professionals supporting the Los Angeles Public
Library. She has also earned a degree of certification as a Competent Toastmaster by
Toastmasters International. Her other interest include writing, Girl Scout leadership
and crafting.
Mrs. Veasley-Fields lives in Los Angeles, CA with her husband James, daughter, Tanya and
three grandchildren, Victoria, Sterling and Kelly. |
