What is Co-Teaching?

  • Two or more co-equal (credentialed) faculty working together
  • Conducted in the same classroom
  • When BOTH teachers plan for instruction together
    • General Education Teacher (GET): typically content specialist
    • Resource Specialist Program Teacher (RSPT): expert on individualizing and delivery to various learning modalities
  • When BOTH teachers assess and evaluate student progress both common core standards & IEP goals
  • BOTH teachers actively engaged with students using an appropriate co-teaching model
  • When teachers reflect on the progress and process, offering one another feedback on teaching styles, content, activities, & other items pertinent to improving the teaching situation.
