It was great to see a good turnout today at the meal distribution. Happy to report there was no food waste. We apologize for the late start but we are back on schedule from 7:15 am - 10:45 am Monday - Friday.
Ms. Alvarado met with several staff members today to see how the online learning program is going and they had a lot of positive things to say about the student's and parent's response.
Students: We still have folks with no internet and/or simply have not checked in. Please make sure that you are adding our support staff to Google hangouts so that they can help you through your schoolwork. We are working on getting the remainder of the hotspots activated so that you can continue with your schoolwork for those who do not have internet.
The JJMS staff misses working with you all very much. We will continue to touch base with as many people as possible day and day out. Keep the questions coming and be sure to post a shout-out below. At this time we do not have a concrete date of when school will start again. We are well aware that some districts are publicizing a May 1st start date. JJMS will follow the recommendations of Health and Safety officials and Government officials to ensure the safety of everyone. As we start developing more concrete dates we will alert you.
Tomorrow we will send out more information on how Spring School will work! There are a lot of staff hard at work trying to figure out how to help students earn incentives and be able to redeem them. We are planning an online store where you can purchase a variety of things that will be delivered to your home. There is talks of an online Talent show and virtual dance parties!!!
Phoenix we will rise above all this! Just remember to wash your hands, cover your coughs, and it's cold wear a sweater!!
Thank you all for participating in making the online learning process happen, parents, students, staff!!

Hello JJMS Students and Families,
Working together, we are well on our way through our first day of online learning. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this process, especially our morning crowd. We know we’ve been experiencing some hiccups with the technology. We continue to welcome your questions or concerns (issues with the camera, issues with sticky keys, connection issues, etc.). We are tremendously proud of how concerned and willing our kids have been as we get started with the online instruction. This is evident from the questions that our students have been sending us. We ask that students and parents review our postings on our website as well as in student's emails for answers regarding online learning. If you have questions that our postings don’t have an answer to, please continue to send us questions! The fastest way to troubleshoot is by emailing info@jamesjordanms.com. We will continue to distribute technology tomorrow and Friday between 7:15 AM and 11:00 AM.
Students & Attendance: Please make sure to submit your attendance google form ONCE by 9 PM tonight. You do not have to submit it for every class, you only turn it in ONE time in the entire day.
Meals: Keep in mind that we will continue to provide meals for our students and their siblings this week from 7:30 am -10:30 am. Next week we will be open to the public. This means ALL school-age students are able to stop by JJMS to pick up a grab and go meal!
On behalf of the JJMS staff, we are extremely grateful for all the cooperation we see from our JJMS families during this very new experience. We want to assure you that the JJMS staff is committed to providing you all with educational online support from 9 am- 7 pm. We welcome you to the drive-thru for breakfast and lunch pick-up for all your kids.
All you will need to do is restart your computer and it should now let you connect to your home wifi. We are here to help. Let us know if you have any other questions. Wash your hands!!!!!!

Pick up your Computers JJMS Families!!
Computers will be ready for pick up tomorrow, Wednesday, 3/18 from 7:15 am to 6:30 pm. A parent or guardian must pick up the computer. We are trying to practice social distancing. If you see a big crowd please try to return at a different time. Please follow our staff's instructions during the distribution time. This is a drive-thru pick up. Unless you are walking to campus please do not get off your car. Just stay in your car and drive up to the pick-up station. Please be patient. We are working with a limited staff to get your students the resources that they need to continue instructional time at home. Thank you!

5 pm Monday, March 16th
Dear JJMS students and families
We want to inform you of the online learning education expectations that students will follow from the comfort of their homes. We want all of our students and families to take care of themselves during this difficult time in our nation.
A Chromebook will be available for every enrolled student on Wednesday, March 18th starting at 7:15 am - 6:30 pm. If there is a computer for each school-aged student in the household and the computer is capable of taking pictures of written assignments, logging in to Google Chrome, and has a camera for video conferencing it is not necessary to take one of our Chromebooks.
Students who do not have internet at home, will need to pick up a paper packet of assignments for this week. Support for students without internet will be provided by phone. For families that have informed JJMS that they do not have internet at home, JJMS will have hotspots for free internet, likely available on Monday, March 23, or families can call Charter Communications or Spectrum to have free internet installed. When the JJMS hotspots are ready, we will call the families that have informed us that they do not have internet.
Each day, students will be given:
1 Math activity
1 ELA activity
1 Physical Education activity
1 History or Science activity.
Teachers will be posting details about these assignments in their Google classrooms. Please also have students check their email once a day.
Students need to submit the assignments every day by 9 pm. The details of how to submit assignments will be described in Google classroom.
Online tutoring and support will be available for students from 9:00-7:00 pm. Students can ask for help with assignments or with operating their Chromebook. The online support will be provided by teachers from and support staff. See the chart below to figure out who you could reach out to that is on your grade level team!
Our Special Education staff will reach out to students in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) to provide the services listed in each IEP, including academic and behavior support, speech services, DIS counseling, BII, adapted P.E., and DHH.
English Learners will be contacted by JJMS staff on a weekly basis to provide targeted instruction in English Language Development. Additional individual assistance for English Learners is available by email, instant message, phone call or by video conferencing.
JJMS will provide meal service for our own students and their siblings starting on Wednesday, March 18th. The meals will consist of a bag containing an entire day's worth of food (breakfast, lunch, snack, and milk). Pickups will be available daily from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. Any child in your family can come to our school and pick up a meal bag. The child MUST be present to pick up a bag. Please let us know if this is something you would do on a regular basis. James Jordan Middle School will be a food distribution for all students in the community beginning Monday March 23. Any child under the age of 18 will be able to pick up a meal sack beginning Monday March 23. THE MEAL MUST BE TAKEN AWAY AND EATEN SOMEWHERE ELSE.
JJMS families will be receiving a phone survey to help us determine how many meals to order.
