Below are the results of our 2024-2025 Lottery. 
March 23, 2024 Enrollment Lotter for 2024-25

 

General Information 

  • 1st Enrollment Deadline March 20, 2024, at 11:59 pm 
  • Lottery held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:00 am 
  • The lottery deadline was announced on December 21st, 2023.
  • A sign (approximately 4’ by 2’) announcing the lottery is placed at the entrance to the school and on the school website.
  • The lottery takes place in the MPR with a Zoom link for remote participation, which is posted on the school website's landing page www.jamesjordanms.com
  • Notices announcing the lottery RESULTS are placed at the entrance to the school and on the school website.
  • All applicants with completed applications are notified of lottery results within 48 hours using the school's phone blast system.

Procedures 

  • As indicated in the JJMS Charter, Lottery Procedures are taped to the front of the room, making them available to the public. They can also be found on the school website. 
  • An email receipt was sent to all applicants from PowerSchool Enrollment and [email protected]
  • If we have more applicants than spaces for a particular grade level, the lottery will proceed. If we have available seats for all applicants, there will be no lottery, and all applicants will be offered enrollment.
  • For the 2024-25 school year,  we have 160 seats for 6th-grade students.  We have reviewed the applications and found that 26 students qualify for an admission preference as specified in the JJMS Charter and detailed on the lottery form and our website.  We have 218 applicants for 6th grade 2024-25, and the lottery will proceed. 
  • For the 2024-25 school year,  we have 150 seats for 7th-grade students.  We are delighted to see that all of our current students are planning to return.  This means we will have 0 seats available for 7th in the 2024-25 school year. We will have a lottery for 7th-grade students to add them to the waitlist. 
  • For the 2024-25 school year,  we have 150 seats for 8th-grade students.  We are delighted to see that all our current students are planning to return.  This means we have 0 seats available for the 8th in the 2024-25 school year.  We will have a lottery for 8th-grade students to add them to the waitlist. 

 

  • If a lottery is needed, the lottery will be processed through PowerSchool Enrollment and streamed via Zoom. A JJMS Board member will supervise this process, which will be recorded and posted on our school website.  The school administrators will project a screen showing the live process. At the end of this process, a JJMS administrator will ask if anyone has questions.
  • If no lottery is needed, the admissions list will be published outside the school and on the school website.   All applicants offered admission will be notified by phone/text blast using the school’s system. 
  • The lottery results are posted onsite after the lottery ends outside the school and on the school website by 3/25/2024. 
  • Following a lottery, the school will contact applicants in order of the numbers assigned at the lottery.  When the school fills all available seats for a grade level, the lottery numbers will indicate a position on the waiting list.   
  • Students offered admission must show up on the first day of school, August 12th, or they will forfeit their seat. 
  • All applicants now on the waiting list will be mailed a letter with their ticket number, their position on the waiting list, and a copy of the Element 8 Admission Requirements Section (D) Lottery Procedures #8 from the JJMS Charter.

Esto significa que tenemos 0 aseintos disponibles para el 8º grado del año escolar 2024-25. Tendremos una lotería para que los estudiantes de 8º grado los agreguen a la lista de espera.
  • Si se necesita una lotería, la lotería se procesará a través de PowerSchool Enrollment y se transmitirá a través de Zoom. Este proceso será supervisado por un miembro de la Junta de JJMS, grabado y publicado en el sitio web de nuestra escuela.  Los administradores de la escuela proyectarán una pantalla que muestra el proceso en vivo. Al final de este proceso, un administrador de JJMS preguntará si alguien tiene preguntas.
  • Si no se necesitó lotería, la lista de admisiones se publicará fuera de la escuela y en el sitio web de la escuela. Todos los solicitantes a los que se les ofrezca admisión serán notificados por teléfono / mensaje de texto mediante el sistema de la escuela. 
  • Los resultados de la lotería se publican en el sitio después de que terminó la lotería fuera de la escuela y así como en el sitio web de la escuela antes del 03/25/2024. 
  •  Después de una lotería, la escuela se comunicará con los solicitantes en el orden de los números que se les asignó en la lotería. Cuando la escuela llena todos los cupos disponibles para un nivel de grado, los números de la lotería indicarán un puesto en la lista de espera.   
  • Los estudiantes a los que se les ofrezca admisión deben presentarse el primer día de clases, el 12 de agosto, o perderán su asiento. 
  • Todos los solicitantes, ahora en la lista de espera,recibirán una carta con su número de boleto, su posición en la lista de espera y una copia de los Procedimientos de lotería de la Sección (D) de Requisitos de admisión del Elemento 8 # 8 de el Charter de JJMS. 


Waitlist Information

 

The JJMS Charter includes the following Admission Requirements in 

Element 8 ,Section (D), #8 .

Preference is extended to siblings of currently enrolled students, this would be any child who has the same legal guardian or parent of a currently enrolled JJMS student. 

 

Preference is extended to the children of JJMS staff including teachers, paraprofessionals, classified staff, administrators, and members of official councils (ELAC and SSC) and to the children of the JJMS Board of Trustees. This preference shall not exceed 10% of the total enrollment. The purpose of this preference is to maximize the availability of parents/guardians as part of the school community. Also, this preference allows parents/guardians who are often on campus to be in close proximity to their own children to allow easier execution of parental duties while minimizing the impact on school operations. For example, if a parent had to travel to another campus to pick up their student or to meet with a teacher, there would be a negative impact on the child, the parent, and the operations of JJMS.

 

When a person on the waiting list is offered a space at the school, they shall be notified by phone (at least 3 attempts) and shall be given 24 hours to respond to the third phone call.

 

Waitlist Process

  • April 26, 2024 – The school will have confirmation of all accepted students from the March 23, 2024 Lottery. If anyone declines or does not respond within the indicated time, we will call the next person on the waitlist.  Anyone who applies to JJMS after March 20, 2043, 11:59 PM  may be placed into the monthly lottery held the third Friday of every month.
  • Monthly lotteries will be held to assign waitlist orders to all applications submitted after the first lottery, which was held in March 2024.
  • June - The school will call all families that have officially accepted space for the 2024-2025 school year. If anyone who accepts admission withdraws from our list, we will contact the next student on the waitlist to fill that seat.
  • August – The school will call any families that did not show up to the first official school event. If anyone says they no longer plan to enroll, we will call the next person on the waitlist.
  • August 12, 2024 (First Day of School)- The school will contact the families of any students who do not show up, and the absent students will be contacted by phone/text/email that they are forfeiting their space at the school. The absent students will be allowed to show up on the second day of school to claim their seats.  If there are any available seats after 11 am on the second day of school, JJMS will contact additional students according to the order they are listed on the waitlist.

Cuando a una persona en lista de espera se le ofrezca un espacio en la escuela, se le notificará por teléfono (al menos 3 intentos) y se le dará 24 horas para responder a la tercera llamada telefónica.
 
Proceso de lista de espera
  • 26 de abril de 2024: la escuela tendrá la confirmación de todos los estudiantes aceptados de la lotería del 23 de marzo de 2024. Si alguien rechaza o no responde dentro del tiempo indicado, llamaremos a la siguiente persona en la lista de espera. Cualquier persona que presente su solicitud para JJMS después del 20 de marzo de 2043 a las 11:59 p. m. podrá participar en la lotería mensual que se lleva a cabo el tercer viernes de cada mes.
  • Se realizarán loterías mensuales para asignar pedidos en lista de espera a todas las solicitudes presentadas después de la primera lotería, que se llevó a cabo en marzo de 2024.
  • Junio: la escuela llamará a todas las familias que hayan aceptado oficialmente un espacio para el año escolar 2024-2025. Si alguien que acepta la admisión se retira de nuestra lista, nos comunicaremos con el siguiente estudiante en la lista de espera para ocupar ese asiento.
  • Agosto: la escuela llamará a las familias que no se presentaron al primer evento escolar oficial. Si alguien dice que ya no planea inscribirse, llamaremos a la siguiente persona en la lista de espera.
  • 12 de agosto de 2024 (primer día de clases): la escuela se comunicará con las familias de los estudiantes que no se presenten, y los estudiantes ausentes serán contactados por teléfono, mensaje de texto o correo electrónico para informarles que están perdiendo su espacio en la escuela. A los estudiantes ausentes se les permitirá presentarse el segundo día de clases para reclamar sus asientos. Si hay asientos disponibles después de las 11 a.m. del segundo día de clases, JJMS se comunicará con estudiantes adicionales de acuerdo con el orden en que aparecen en la lista de espera.
